MIke D'Piano Guy

"Spring Breakers? Bring 'em on!"

So sez Mike, aka "the human jukebox.". He is busy entertaining the winter texans tonight. And how do the current crowds differ from the crowds he will be seein in a couple of weeks?

Not so much, apparently. "The spring breakers basically request the same songs as the older crowd. The big difference is that they want to hear them at 2 AM as opposed to 7 PM."

D'Pizza Joint - located just across the parking lot from Louie's Backyard - is a great place to address those after-bar munchies and Mike will have you singing along while you wait for your pizza.

Unlitter! and don't forget it....

Yes... we're the Sons of the Beach and we're all about having fun.... but part of being able to continue having fun we have to be conscious of the mess we could make.... take the "SOB" pledge now....

raise your right hand and repeat after me....

I promise to have fun!
Help others have fun!
and UNLITTER! (unlitter is to properly dispose of more garbage than you generate)

don't forget..... UNLITTER!

Spring Break Party Package

During Texas Week it is hard to miss the party and it pretty much envelopes the whole island. However, if you are coming any other week in March or early April you could find yourself in a near-empty club wondering where everyone is.

For that reason, we suggest you check out the optional activities and party packages at Inertia Tours. They bring the party with them and make it their business to make sure you are having fun. The party package includes nightly celebrations in the best SPI clubs with VIP treatment - your cover charge is covered and no waiting in line with the riffraff. You get to rub elbows with celebrities and you get to choose two of four optional activities including a booze cruise; a trip to Mexico; a dolphin watch cruise or a surf lesson.

new (?) plan to curb spring break violence

Cameron County leaders have a plan to help keep the peace at a trouble spot on South Padre Island

Um.... sounds a lot like the old plan to me.

Border Drinking Sting

Note to underage breakers who plan to get wasted in Mexico and come back across the border in that condition: this is a bad idea, one that recently cost more than 200 local teenagers $500 each. And police say similar operations are planned for spring break.

Can you say "designated driver"?

Isle Ditter Dog Slideshow

I had a lot of fun shooting puppy pics -- right up until my camera batteries died :-(
This is my favorite -- don't they look like a matched pair?

The theme was Hawaiian (of course) but it was truly and miserably cold. Didn't feel anything at all like the Hawaii I had been experiencing some 48 hours earlier. The weather cut everything short and I am sure affected turnout and funds collected but a worthy group of diehards made a good showing.

I have never missed an IDD and this was the first without 18-year old Wags who prefers the quiet of home these days.

Nancy and Stephanie did a lovely job with the K9Cafe this year.... Wags is still enjoying some of the leftovers (brought home in a "people bag" and the stuff really looks yummy enough for human consumption!)

You can see a brief slideshow of the rest of my shots by clicking here
