Message from Balde (Toby Beau)
Rennetta and I have been in Hawaii now for 5 days and I just saw our first whale today. I'm a little embarrassed because whale season starts the end of Dec. and I mentioned to then vacationing Dan Stanton and family that they would see whales. Well, from the slim pickings that I have seen so far, the only ones they saw were the one's lounging poolside. I hope you had a great time any way Dan.
I have a horn to toot now. It seems that Texas Monthly has interviewed me/Toby Beau for their South by Southwest issue coming out in Feb. or March. It will include other Texas has beens like Archie Bell, Bloodrock, and Sunny and the Sunliners. I know what you're thinking, It's a one-hit wonder issue, but I'm very proud of it. I'll keep you informed. My thanks to Half-Priced Books and Music, the Bukowski's (Robin, Phillip, Dillon, and Corgi) for the use of there locales for the photo shoot. Can you believe what a pompous ass I sound like, I'm actually enjoying this very much. I promise I'll be humble next time. The holidays were great. Rennetta, Michael and I got to spend the whole season together as a family. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present. After a wonderful New Year's with my friends in Waco we spent a couple of weeks in SA at Michael's apartment. He is a big Spurs fan and wanted to show off the new ATT center to us by treating us to a game. As we walked into the stadium we were approached by a young woman who I thought was trying to sign us up for a high interest rate credit card and a gift T-shirt. No, she wanted us to be SuperFans! 19,000 people at this game and they pick the three stooges. 5 minutes later our faces are on the enormotron or whatever it's called and we are on the court with the SA Spurs. It was amazing. I was getting whiplash looking up at these great players, they were so close to me. I felt the tallest and the smallest at the same time and didn't mind at all. My plate, my glass, and my heart were all full. What a holiday. God bless us everyone!
