Our Far-Flung Correspondents
From Balde & Renetta ("Toby Beau")
Aloha from Hawaii pirates,
Well, it's out! The Texas Monthly issue that features the One-Hit Wonders from Texas. My horn won't stop tooting and the extra hand I had surgically implanted on my back won't stop patting me on it.
I hope you all will read it and let me know what you think. Now I don't want any of you treating me any different than you have in the past, because of this great honor, I am still the same talented and handsome rock superstar that I was before! Ouch! Rennetta just threw a shoe at me. I miss you all very much, and hope everyone is in good health!
Love,
Balde
Turtle Days Flag Unfurling

Nancy Marsden and Christy McDonald show off their creation at the unfurling of the flag at the SPI Visitors Center. Turtle Days will begin when the first Turtle arrives and ends when the last Turtle leaves. During the occupation of the Turtles, the Turtle Days flag will fly at the SPI Visitors Center to let everyone know they are here! Info about the flag and the Turtle Days events will be available at the Visitors Center also. This is such a great way to help boost the awareness of the Turtles and Sea Turtle Inc! Rumor has it that the week of May 13th will be Turtle Week and you will see many FUN Turtle related events happening all over the Island. Keep up with the latest at SOB News.com!!

Sea Turtles released back into the Bay

This Green Sea Turtle and some of his buddies were released back in to the Laguna Madre today on a special cruise boat by American Diving. The boat was packed with locals and tourists and was a real fun trip! Jeff George seen here showing us these incredible animals was all smiles. Having healthy animals to put back into the wild has to be rewarding! Huge applause for Jeff and his crew and all the volunteers!!! Go Turtles!
K-9 Cafe

Chefette Nanette, a local favorite amongst gourmets of the human and canine breeds, hosted a one of a kind cafe at the Isle Ditter Dog with the clever and catchy title: the K-9 Cafe. Dogs are encouraged to select their meal thru a sniff test then led to a silver tray with a crystal water dish. Then Chefette Nanette herself serves the pooch on a plate that includes velcro on the bottom to keep it in place! While the owner is relaxing the dog gets a nice outdoor lunch. Be sure to check out this great bayside dining experience, it's a fabulous and rare experience for you and your pup !! They even have doggie bags! :o)

Sandy Feet & Peach at the Isle Ditter Dog

Sandy Feet, local SOB celebrity, leads the crowd in the Sons of the Beach Pledge: "I promise to have fun, help others have fun and UNlitter." Unlittering is properly disposing of more garbage than you generate. The crowd was enthusiastic at the Isle Ditter Dog, a fund-raiser for the Laguna Madre Humane Society held at Louie's Backyard. It's an annual Island favorite! Peach was a real hit in her Flea Circus costume made by her fairy dog mother Christy. photo's by Christy McDonald

Ramblin' Jack's Report
Hey gang...
I will be playing Saturday night at Palm Street Pier with the fabulous Michael Lafferty
at 4pm (if its sunny) or 6pm (if its not). Come on out and bring your friends. We played Thursday evening at Jackies Place and the music was incredible if I do say so myself (pat, pat). It should be a hoot!! Hope to see you there. (Los Tumbleweeds were scheduled to play but Rev. Doug is in Austin taking his practical for his massage license- he will be back on Monday) We are at Palm St. every other Sat and Texas Moon on the alternate
Saturdays at 8pm. I am also trying to work up some gigs with Allen Stewart. That will be fun. We were booked into the new Skyy club on Tuesday but got doubled booked so, I suppose, we will be booked in there some other night. Will keep you posted. We are also in the rotation on Thursday nights at Jackies Place. There are six groups in the rotation so dont know when we'll be there next. Monday nights at Jackies is "cajun night" with Emilios band. Loose Reed on bass and Allen Stewart on harp. Michael Lafferty is sitting in for Emilio while he is on the road with "Guitar Shorty", a blues guy from the West coast. He will be out for about six weeks. Tuesday nights at Jackies is "jam" night. Host band is Loose Reed on bass, Andy Gibson on guitar and Tomas Ramirez on sax. Thats been pretty well attended as has been the cajun night. Pick a night and come on out and join us.
